“But
you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and
you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
(Acts 1:8)
Greetings Saints,
Over
the past several months I have been sharing with you around the
Ablaze! and
Fan into
Flame efforts of the
Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).
Ablaze!
is the movement of the LCMS to reach 100 million new people for
Christ by the year 2017;coinciding with our church celebration
of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.
Fan into
Flame is the effort of
our LCMS to raise $100 million dollars to support the
Ablaze!
movement. It is through the support of
Fan into
Flame that I have been
blessed to be called as the first missionary to North America.
As
missionary to Atlanta, my responsibilities cover several areas:
First,
I identify individuals who have a heart for ministry in the
city’s urban area to possibly become church planters, and mentor
these individuals in the development of new church starts.
Second,
to develop a network of churches and individuals in and outside
of the Atlanta area who would support the work of the
Ablaze!
movement in Atlanta.
Third,
to help revitalize existing churches in the city by developing
new visions for their ministries, and connecting them to/with
the necessary resources to help them become effective again in
doing outreach in their communities. My
final responsibility is
to help identify
congregations that are willing to become
Ablaze!
Covenant Congregations
and partner with the
Ablaze!
movement in planting three to four new congregations by the year
2017.
In our
ministry retreat this past weekend we agreed to a new five year
vision which includes the launching of three additional
congregations. We have in essence, agreed to become an
Ablaze!
Covenant Congregation.
For
almost two years now we have been locked in a licensing battle
with the city of Riverdale, GA over launching/opening our 2nd
ministry location. Finally and most happily I can announce to
you that we have been given approval to move forward with the
work. Not only has the city given approval for the license, we
have also been accepted by Open Arms Ministry Inc. for a
partnership in the development of an Early Learning Center at
that location.
God’s
people it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to a greater
work in ministry. Riverdale is now before us. The Lord has given
us power to go forth in ministry. Please prayerfully consider
how
you can support this
great work with the talents God has already blessed you with.
As always I hope to see you soon at
